Caregiver honored for work with people with dementia in hospice

Jalia Brodie work goes beyond traditional caregiving.

Her bonds with people in hospice living with dementia gained the attention of the owners of Executive Home Care of Augusta who honored Brodie with the Loved01 Cares “Live Like a Legend” Caregiver Recognition Award for her exceptional compassion and dedication to a client living with dementia during hospice care, according to a news release.

Tony and Tina Ismael of Executive Home Care of Augusta recognized Brodie for “extraordinary support that extended far beyond traditional caregiving. While caring for a cherished client during the final stage of life, Brodie developed a bond so meaningful that both the client and their family came to consider her one of their own.”

The recognition is part of a nationwide caregiver appreciation initiative through Loved01 Cares, celebrating caregivers who make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

“Jalia represents everything Executive Home Care stands for,” Tina Ismael said. “She didn’t simply provide care—she provided comfort, dignity and genuine human connection during one of the most difficult times a family can experience. That kind of compassion cannot be taught. It comes from the heart.”

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Professional caregivers also play a vital role by supporting families throughout the progression of the disease, including during hospice and end-of-life care.

Providing care for someone living with dementia while receiving hospice services requires exceptional patience, emotional resilience and unwavering compassion. Throughout her time with the family, Brodie consistently demonstrated those qualities while ensuring her client experienced comfort, respect and personalized care.

“For Jalia, caring for others is more than a profession—it’s a calling,” Ismael said. “Her commitment, compassion and quality of care embody the values we strive to deliver every day, and we are proud to recognize her for the profound impact she has made.”

Executive Home Care of Augusta provides personalized in-home care services that help seniors and adults remain safe, comfortable and independent while receiving compassionate support tailored to their individual needs.
