The University of South Carolina Aiken’s Etherredge Center will launch the 40th Anniversary season of its Cultural Series with an unforgettable evening of music featuring The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
Led by Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson, The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra brings a distinctive Louisiana-inspired flair to the timeless music of the Great American Songbook. Drawing inspiration from legendary entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Davis and Johnson combine the excitement and sophistication of a big band with a contemporary, high-energy performance style.
Audiences can expect a musical journey that goes well beyond the classics, incorporating influences from Motown, Ray Charles, 1980s pop, and Texas Swing. The result is a fresh and engaging experience designed to connect with audiences of all ages.
For some Cultural Series fans, the September performance will be a highly anticipated reunion. Audiences may remember The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra from their spectacular 2020 concert in the Etherredge Center parking lot, when the pandemic transformed the traditional concert experience into an outdoor celebration. Concertgoers gathered in the parking lot, tailgating, dancing, and partying throughout the night while enjoying the energy and musicianship of Jeremy, Clay and the band. The return of The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra is a fitting way to begin a season celebrating 40 years of the Cultural Series and the artists and audiences who have made it a beloved part of the Aiken community.
The 40th Anniversary celebration will begin with a special VIP Black Tie Reception prior to the concert. The reception will honor the Etherredge Center directors who have led the Cultural Series through its first 40 years, recognizing their contributions to the program and their role in bringing exceptional performing artists to the Aiken community.
VIP guests will enjoy a champagne toast celebrating this milestone anniversary, along with an exclusive meet and greet with Jeremy Davis and Clay Johnson of The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. Tickets for the VIP Black Tie Reception are $100 per person.
