Walk For Water moves to Evans Towne Center Park Nov. 7

After seven years at North Augusta’s SRP Park, the CSRA Walk for Water moves to Evans Towne Center Park on Saturday, Nov. 7,

“After seven incredible years in North Augusta, we are grateful for the support and memories built at SRP Park,” said Jeff Kertscher, CSRA Walk for Water spokesperson. “As we look to the future, we want this event to truly reflect and reach across the entire CSRA. Moving to Evans allows us to be more centrally positioned and accessible, reinforcing that this is a regional effort that brings together communities on both sides of the river. The CSRA Walk for Water truly encompasses the Central Savannah River Area, and we’re excited to continue growing that impact.”

Registration is now open. Everyone who registers by Oct. 31 will be entered for a chance to win tickets to this year’s Guitar Pull.

The Walk offers participants a firsthand glimpse into the daily challenges faced by millions of people worldwide who must travel miles to collect water, often from unsafe sources. Walkers carry empty buckets along the route, fill them with water, and complete the journey, symbolizing the experience of those who make similar trips every day. The paved, accessible walking route at Evans Towne Center Park also offers shorter distance options, making the event welcoming to participants of varying ages and abilities, according to a news release.

CSRA Walk for Water is an annual community event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for sustainable clean water solutions around the world. Through a symbolic walk, participants experience a small part of the daily journey millions of people, particularly women and children, make to collect water for their families.

For many, this journey takes hours each day, often preventing children from attending school and limiting opportunities for families and communities to thrive, the news release said.

Unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene contribute to an estimated 1.4 million preventable deaths worldwide each year. By bringing the community together, CSRA Walk for Water helps turn awareness into action, supporting efforts to provide safe, reliable water and create lasting change.

Since its inception, the CSRA Walk for Water has brought together thousands of participants and raised more than $250,000 to support clean water initiatives around the world.
