Helen Welch will present the “First Ladies of Song” at Aiken’s Amentum Center for the Performing Arts as part of Aiken Performing Arts’ season.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 and Friday, Jan. 26.

Welch sings the songs of legendary singers such as Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Carpenter, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Dolly Parton.

“Audience members can anticipate an evening brimming with timeless hits like ‘At Last’;  ‘Fever’ and ‘Jolene,’ according to a news release. In addition, Welch will provide  “interesting tidbits about the remarkable women behind the music, captivating anecdotes and her trademark British humor, culminating in a tribute that will leave a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.”

Welch has been a performer for 45 years from TV’s “Romper Room” to starring on London’s West End. She’s sung the National Anthem on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, been a featured vocalist with The Cleveland Orchestra and Florida Symphony and served as Luke Bryan’s vocal coach, according to her website.
