A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for a new Smoothie King is set for Saturday, Aug. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.
Army veteran Antwon Wade recently opened his second location in Eisenhower Crossing, 3970 Harper Franklin Blvd., near Fort Gordon.
“We are beyond excited about this new opportunity to serve another section of our community, especially Fort Gordon,” said Wade, in a news release. His first location at the Villages at Riverwatch opened in April 2024.
Wade served in the Army for 24 years, retiring in 2016 and was inspired to start a Smoothie King franchise because of the company’s mission to inspire people to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
Steve Kuhnau founded Smoothie King in 1973 in Kenner, Louisiana, because he “couldn’t tolerate the dairy and additives in everyday ‘milkshakes’, so he made his own. Real fruit. Real protein. Recipes built for how he wanted to feel after,” according to the Smoothie King website.
Smoothie King has grown to more than 1,300 locations worldwide. Its menu includes smoothies plus food such as flatbread sandwiches, chicken bites and fruit and yogurt bowls.
