Ribbon cutting scheduled for unique collaboration involving Aiken Tech

Three new mobile advanced manufacturing labs that are the result of a unique collaborative initiative with Piedmont Technical College, Aiken Technical College and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will be unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3.

The ceremony will be held at the William H. “Billy” O’Dell Upstate Center for Manufacturing Excellence on Piedmont Technical College’s Greenwood Campus, according to a news release from Aiken Tech.

“Funded by a $4.9 million Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, these mobile labs will serve as critical workforce training resources, bringing advanced manufacturing education and skills development to rural areas across South Carolina,” the release said.

Officials from Piedmont Technical College, Aiken Technical College and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will be on hand for the event.
