GRANITEVILLE – Aiken Technical College is expanding student access to mental health support, medical care, and basic-needs assistance through a new partnership with TimelyCare, a virtual health and well-being service available 24/7.

Students can use the virtual services at no-cost to them, and no insurance is required. Available services and resources include:

  • On-demand and appointment-based medical care
  • On-demand mental health and emotional support
  • Appointment-based mental health counseling (up to six free sessions each academic year per student)
  • Health coaching
  • Basic needs assistance
  • Care navigation
  • Peer support community
  • Self-care content

To access the services, students must be currently enrolled at Aiken Tech and sign up through a dedicated portal. TimelyCare follows HIPAA privacy standards, and information shared on the platform is encrypted and protected.

This new service is a part of the College’s ongoing efforts to support student success through holistic approaches, said Melinda Rodgers, vice president of enrollment management and student affairs.

“This investment aligns with the college’s mission to provide accessible, student-centered education and helps remove barriers that can impact persistence, retention, and completion. By ensuring students have the resources they need both inside and outside the classroom, Aiken Tech strengthens its commitment to student success and workforce readiness,” Rodgers said.

TimelyCare complements the work already being done through the College’s Student Wellness and Accessibility Department, including counseling services, disability services, and referrals to community resources.

Aiken Tech students also have access to other support, including the Knights Corner Food Pantry, campus Blessing Box, success coaching, and emergency assistance grants, said Crystal Edwards, dean of student success and retention.

“We recognize that student success is influenced by much more than what happens in the classroom. When students have access to the resources and support they need to address academic, financial, physical, mental, and emotional challenges, they are better equipped to remain focused, overcome barriers, persist from semester to semester, and ultimately achieve their educational goals,” Edwards said.
