News You Can Use: Columbia County lane closures beginning Sept. 18

A few lane closures are slated along Columbia County roads this week.

As the Fury’s Ferry Road widening project continues, lane closures are expected between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 18-20 at North Belair Road, according to a news release from the county.

Also, on North Belair Road at Evans to Locks Road, a lane will be closed due to paving repair, and no through southbound traffic will be allowed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Thursday, Sept. 19.  A detour route will be marked.

Another intermittent, temporary lane closure with flaggers will be at Fury’s Ferry Road at Hammonds Drive and at Colony Drive due to pipe installation from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 18-27. Weather permitting.

“Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe,” the release said.
