Martinez-Evans Little League team wins state title June 15

WARNER ROBINS, Ga.— Father’s Day marked two significant milestones in Martinez-Evans Little League’s history.

“This win marks a historic milestone for the MELL program — their first ever Sandlot League State Championship and, more notably, the first back-to-back state title in league history for this age group,” according to a news release.

The team won the Georgia State Championship at Warner Robin’s Little League Southeastern Region Complex in a three-team round robin against teams Columbus American Little League and Smyrna, following their sectional championship victories over Oconee and Hart counties.

“It’s hard to put into words what this group accomplished. These boys showed heart, grit and an unbelievable commitment to each other. I couldn’t be prouder to be their coach,” said Coach Kevin Pinson.

Roman Jones, State Tournament Director, presented each player and coach with commemorative medals, pins, and championship banners, celebrating both their district and state victories.

Father’s Day brings magic for Pinson’s teams.

Last year, Pinson coached the Martinez-Evans Little League Rookie Allstar Team (8 Under) to its state title, marking only the second time a team representing Martinez-Evans had ever won the Rookie League State Championship in its more than 50-year history.

The state title marks the end of the season for the team.
