CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite a string pitching performance from Landon Beidelschies, and three hits from eighteen-year-old shortstop Manuel Campos the Augusta GreenJackets (33-29, 68-60) were unable to end their struggles in Charleston as they fell to the surging RiverDogs (35-28, 72-57) 6-3 Thursday night.
The early goings of the ballgame were a classic pitchers’ duel, as Landon Beidelschies and Jacob Kuhn both dazzled early. Beidelschies ended his first pro season on a very strong note, allowing just one hit and one run in five solid innings against a team that has had his number all year.
As good as Beidelschies was, Kuhn was even better, as he battled adversity in almost every inning to post five scoreless frames. The GreenJackets put a man in scoring position in four straight innings against Kuhn thanks to four walks and a Campos single, but left each one stranded as Kuhn quashed any rallies.
As soon as Beidelschies departed the ballgame, the dam broke for the RiverDog offense, as they bludgeoned the bullpen in two innings to extend the lead to six. Charleston scored two unearned runs against Lewis Sifontes, and used a combo of aggressive baserunning and a solo homer from Cooper Flemming to tack three more runs on against Styven Paez in the seventh.
The Jackets entered the ninth inning in danger of a shutout, with only three hits on their ledger thanks to Campos and Cooper McMurray. To their credit, however, Augusta fought valiantly against Luke Jackson in their final inning to break apart the shutout and at least threaten the hefty lead of the home side. With two on and one out, Campos clubbed a line drive into the left field corner to score two and secure his second triple and second three-hit game as a GreenJacket. Campos would dash home on an RBI single from Caleb Klein, but Augusta’s rally would fall short of the six runs necessary to replicate the magical comeback from Sunday night.
There are just three games left in the 2026 season, and Augusta must win all of them to secure a series split after Charleston has started off the week so strongly. Friday marks the second professional outing for lefty Wil Libbert, who carved through three scoreless innings in his debut last week. Augusta’s offense gets the unenviable task of squaring off with Aidan Cremarosa, the same man who threw a no-hitter against them back in May.
