Goodwill to open 18th retail training store on Walton Way

Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA will open its 18th retail training store and donation center at the corner of Walton Way and 15th Street, and two events are planned to mark its opening,

A mural dedication is set for Feb. 2 and the retail store grand opening will be Feb. 8.

John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School students created a mural on the side of the building highlighting the work of Goodwill and Helms College. The dedication ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m. Read more about the mural from a previous Augusta Good News’ story here.

The grand opening is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 8.

“We’re celebrating the grand opening of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA’s newest Goodwill Retail Training Store and Attended Donation Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce. The store will open to the public immediately following the brief ceremony that will include Augusta dignitaries and a blessing of the building. It will be a day filled with prizes, giveaways and a first look at this location in the heart of Augusta’s Medical District,” according to a news release.

The store is at the location of a former Rite-Aid.

“Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, Inc., a non-profit 501c3 charity, builds lives, families, and communities one career at a time by helping people develop their God-given gifts through education, work, and career services. More than 86 cents of every dollar of Goodwill revenue underwrites job training and placement services within the agency’s 35-county service delivery area,” according to the release.
