Five Alarm Firehouse Fest scheduled for July 18

Augusta firefighters know about heat, but on Saturday, they will encounter a different type of fire.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is teaming up with the Augusta Fire Department from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday for Five Alarm Firehouse
Fest, a family-friendly community fundraiser at Dave’s new Augusta location, 1102 Trust Ave.

Local heroes will test their limits against the infamous “Reaper” spice level to raise life-saving safety funds, according to a news release. During the event, 20% of all sales will be donated directly to the Augusta Fire Department. The funds raised will be used to purchase 10-year battery smoke detectors for local families in need. Currently, more than 100 Augusta community members are on a waiting list for these life-saving devices, making every purchase during the event a direct contribution
to neighborhood safety.

One of the afternoon’s featured events will be the highly anticipated 5-Alarm Firehouse Reaper Challenge, where four Augusta firefighters will go head-to-head for bragging rights and the coveted Golden Chicken Fire Extinguisher Trophy. Augusta Fire Chief Antonio Burden will be in attendance to greet guests and will even step behind the counter alongside local firefighters to
help serve the community.

Also at the event will be a DJ, a Fire Engine Touch-a-Truck experience, photo opportunities with Sparky the Fire Dog and Augusta firefighters, a hands-on Home Depot Kids Craft activity and family-friendly games and interactive activities
