Road work continues in Columbia County with lane closures and traffic shifts expected in the coming week.
The road-widening project on Furys Ferry will include a traffic shift. Beginning Tuesday, southbound traffic at the roundabout at Hardy McManus Road to North Belair Road will shift from existing pavement to the new pavement section on the west side of the right of way to allow road construction to continue, according to a news release from Columbia County.
Intermittent temporary lane closures on Furys Ferry Road from the intersection of Hardy McManus Road to North Belair Road and at the Mullikin Road intersection of Fury’s Ferry Road will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 pm. From Monday, Sept. 28 to Friday, Oct. 2.
Additional temporary lane closures on Hardy McManus Road from Furys Ferry Road to William Few Parkway from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Sunday, Sept. 27 to Sunday, Oct. 4.
And temporary lane closures will be on Murray Road due to road construction activities from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 to Oct.1.
All work is contingent on the weather.
“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe,” according to the news release.
