Columbia County names five finalists for Teacher of the Year

The Columbia County School District announced its five finalists for the 2023-2024 District Teacher of the Year.
This year’s finalists are Brook Andrews, Stallings Island Middle School; Allison Dixon, Greenbrier Elementary School; Crystal McDowell, Greenbrier High School; Cassandra Rodriguez, Evans High School; and Jennifer Roper, River Ridge Elementary School.

The 2023-2024 Teachers of the Year are selected in the spring of the previous school year by
peers from their respective schools. The method for selecting the Teachers of the Year is
comprised of a rigorous process that includes internal and external judges, according to a news release from the Columbia County school district.

The finalists will be recognized by the Columbia County Board of Education on Sept. 12. The Columbia County School District Teacher of the Year will be announced at the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet. The winner selected as the Columbia County School District Teacher of the Year will go on to represent the district at the state level.
