Grovetown JV finishes season undefeated

Grovetown High School’s junior variety football team finish its season 6-0 defeating Evans 28-18 on Oct. 8.

The 18 points scored in Thursday’s game were the only points the Warriors gave up all season through their six games.

“They are a good group of kids, and the future is very bright,” said Grovetown Coach Sean Washington. “Very proud of them, they are great kids on and off the field.”

While the majority of the players on junior varsity football team do not play at the varsity level currently, they still practice hard and put in the hard work to succeed.

“They don’t complain and can almost hold a practice by themselves, “Washington said. “Whatever we’re doing, they do it at a very high level and are very mature for their age. I think that is the most exciting part because they conduct themselves like juniors and seniors but are only freshman and sophomores.”

The season may have ended for the JV team, but some players may get the opportunity to play at the varsity level this season as they have four games remaining. If not this season, many will get the opportunity in future seasons.

Washington said the work the junior varsity players have put in everyday has and will prepare them for the varsity level.

“I think the way we do things on an everyday basis in everything we do is going to help them merge on the varsity level,” Washington said.
