Via Cognitive Health donates bikes

Via Cognitive Health donated bikes to Bridge Builders Communities on Oct. 6.

Over the past several months, members of Via Cognitive Health have been working together to rehabilitate and rebuild old bicycles under the instruction and supervision of Phil Cohen, owner of Chain Reaction Bicycles. Six completed bicycles were donated to Bridge Builder Communities, an Augusta non-profit organization focused on helping young adults transitioning from foster care into independent adulthood, according to a news release from Via Cognitive Health.

The bicycle project reflects Via Cognitive Health’s commitment to providing purpose-driven programs that promote meaningful experiences and allow members to remain actively engaged in their communities. Members have taken bicycles in need of restoration and given them new life, and those bicycles will now be passed on to a younger generation as they build independent lives and look toward the future.

For Via members, the project has offered more than an opportunity to learn a new skill. It has provided a renewed sense of purpose and the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. At a time when changes in cognitive health can sometimes leave individuals feeling less independent or less able to contribute, projects like this remind members that their time, talents, and efforts can still make a difference in the lives of others, the news release said.
