CLEMSON, S.C – The Augusta women’s golf team started the season in style and were co-champions of the Tiger Classic in Clemson, SC. The Jaguars shared the title with the host Tigers at 3-over-par. Senior Sara Adams was medalist for the event as she posted rounds of even-par and 5-under-par to take the title by a single shot.
Adams opening round featured three birdies and three bogeys. Then, in round two, she made six more birdies and just a single bogey. Her final birdie came on her 18th hole of the day, which proved to be the tournament winning putt.
Puntita Pawichai posted a seventh place finish at even par. Pawichai shot 73 in her first round and then 71 in her second round. That round was highlighted by an eagle at no. 9.
Jaguar newcomer McKinley Holding had rounds of 74-72 and finished in 15th. Holding had three birdies and five bogeys over the two rounds.
The final team counting scores were turned in by Danielle Higbee with 74-76. Higbee had three birdies on the afternoon.
Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy shot a 78 in the opening round that did not count towards the team score.
Playing as an individual, Sofia Valera posted 75-73 and finished in a tie for 20th.
The co-champion honor was the first for the Augusta women since taking the Southland Conference Championship in 2024. Adams win was the first for the Jaguars since Zoe Pinillos was the individual champion at the Southland Conference Champion in 2025.
