Danú brings Irish music on St. Patrick’s Day to the Etherredge Center

Wear your green and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the sounds of traditional Irish music.

Danú, the internationally acclaimed, award-winning band, hailing from County Waterford, has been thrilling audiences around the world for more than two decades, and will take the stage as part of the Cultural Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the University of South Carolina Aiken Etherredge Center, according to a news release.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Danú to the Etherredge Center on St. Patrick’s Day,” said Paul B. Crook,  Etherredge Center executive director. “We’ll have Irish-themed concessions available to add to the festive atmosphere, and we encourage everyone to wear their very best St. Patrick’s Day attire. I can’t wait to bring a bit of the Emerald Isle to Aiken, and I know our audiences will love it.”

Danú’s dynamic blend of flutes, fiddles, button accordion, bouzouki and rich vocals captures the spirit of Ireland with both reverence and exuberance—making them a perfect centerpiece for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration

Critics have consistently praised the ensemble’s energy and authenticity.

”The Irish Times described a recent performance as “a triumphant return to the purest wellsprings of Irish tradition,” noting that the group plays with “fire, finesse, and a palpable love for the music.” The review further celebrated the band’s ability to deliver “an evening of exuberant musicianship that leaves audiences breathless and beaming.”

The concert is the penultimate performance of the Etherredge Center’s 2025–2026 Cultural Series, which brings world-class artists to the campus of the University of South Carolina Aiken and the greater Aiken community.
