Road work continues in Columbia County and here are a few spots to avoid if possible.
Contractors with E. R. Snell will continue work on the roadway widening project for Lewiston Road in Columbia County, according to a news release from the county. The extended, intermittent, temporary lane closure(s) will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until June 20 from Columbia Road to Interstate 20’s Diverging Diamond Interchange, for concrete work.
Also, there will be a temporary lane closure eastbound at 5001 Gateway Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, to Thursday, July 31, weather permitting.

Work on Furys Ferry Road continues as well.
Pipe installation will force lane closures at the intersections of Culbreath Drive and Riverside Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June 16 to Friday, June 20, weather permitting.
Nighttime work will take place on Furys Ferry between the intersections of North Belair Road and Bridlewood Trail from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. from June 16 to Friday, June 20.
County officials urge motorists to use caution when approaching these areas.
“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe,” a news release said.
