Westobou celebrated its 2025-2026 season Friday, Aug. 7 with a season wrap party, giving art lovers a final glimpse at two exhibitions.
Here are a few of the highlights from this year’s season taken from a recent Westobou newsletter.
“Our exhibition season showcased an incredible range of local and regional contemporary artists. We kicked things off with a bang as Atlanta-based artist Kate Burke transformed the gallery with The Big Light, a stunning exhibition of mosaics and textiles that captivated visitors with its scale and craftsmanship.
“This season also marked the 11th annual small works exhibition, SEEDS. Juror AP Faust selected dynamic works that reflected a remarkable year for collage and mixed-media practices.”
Westobou’s 2025 Artist-in-Residence, Genevieve Lucas, concluded residency with “In the Web of Wire,” an exhibition exploring the intersection of art and technology through immersive installations and new media.

Rounding out the season was guest curator Harvee White who brought together three artists from across the Southeast in a thoughtful exhibition celebrating the richness and versatility of contemporary collage on display now through Aug. 8.
The MICRO Gallery proved once again that a small space can make a big impact. Throughout the season, it served as a platform for experimentation, emerging artists, and community engagement. Savannah-based artist Kevin Kirkwood debuted an entirely new series of paintings, while our internship program gave student artists Sam Peacock and Tesslyn Armstrong the opportunity to present their work in a professional gallery setting.
Community participation was on full display with our annual 4×6 Membership Postcard Show, featuring more than 100 original works, and Seedlings, which celebrated the creativity of K–5 students. We also hosted another Westo-boutique pop-up showcasing talented local makers in partnership with the Handmade Fair.
The MICRO Gallery continued to spotlight innovative artists through our open proposal process. Hannah Lawler transformed the space with her striking coyote print installation, Edna Martinez’s playful Etch A Sketch exhibition was nearly a sellout, and Athens-based artist Sara Hess’s paintings closes in the gallery on Saturday.
