Organizers hope an education and business event scheduled for Oct. 12 will inspire young people.
Regina Harris, founder and pastor of New Life Worship Center in Hephzibah had the idea for The Vision 360 Education, Career, Entrepreneur Expo, and Yolanda Martin Danforth and a team of volunteers set it into motion.
Harris’s idea was “’Let’s celebrate the saints with the higher degrees. Let’s celebrate the entrepreneurs. Let’s get our young people thinking about careers. We married it all together,’” said Danforth.
The event will feature vendors, college representatives and food trucks from 3-5 p.m. at the church on Morgan Road in Hephzibah, and Commissioner Stacy Pulliam, who is a real estate agent, will be the keynote speaker.
Danforth said she hopes that as young people meet with the vendors it will spark a conversation about their ventures, how they got started and what it takes to be a business owner, and perhaps ignite a dream in them.
While young people are a focus, the event isn’t limited to them. It’s free and open to the public.
