Stallings Island Middle School student places third in civics bee

Vivienne K., a student from Stallings Island Middle School, placed third at the 2025 Georgia State
Finals of the National Civics Bee, hosted by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and its Foundation, the on June 27, 2025, at the Carter Center in Atlanta.

The competition consisted of three rounds. The first two rounds were multiple-choice questions,
followed by a judged, Q&A round about the students’ civics essay. Vivienne’s journey began with a winning essay that earned her a spot among 19 students selected from the Greater Augusta Region—14 of whom were also from the Columbia County School District, according to a news release from the district.

She then advanced to the regional competition, where she took first place at the inaugural National Civics Bee held on April 24, 2025, at Grovetown High School. That victory secured her place in the state finals.

Vivienne was one of 22 exceptional middle school students from across the state selected to
compete in the prestigious competition, which aims to inspire civic engagement and community involvement among young Americans. Her performance placed her among the top three finalists, showcasing her deep understanding of civics and her commitment to making a difference.
