The 48th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will return to Broad Street this year.
The March 17 parade begins at 2 p.m. at the parking lot of the former James Brown Arena parking lot, travelling on Seventh Street, turning left on Greene Street, right on 11th Street, right on Broad Street and ending at Sixth Street.
“The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been part of Augusta’s cultural fabric for decades, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to Broad Street,” said Sean Mooney, President of the Irish American Heritage Society, in a news release. “We know this event provides an economic boost to local restaurants, bars, and shops, and we’re excited to return for the benefit of both patrons and businesses alike.”
City officials and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office collaborated closely with the Society to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all parade-goers. Their support has been instrumental in coordinating logistics and maintaining public safety, the release said.
“Our partnership with the city and the Sheriff’s Office has been fantastic,” added Matt Kelly, Parade Chairman. “They worked with us every step of the way to make this happen, and we can’t wait to see everyone lined up along Broad Street again.”
The Irish American Heritage Society is dedicated to promoting and preserving Irish culture, history, and traditions in Augusta. Each year, the Society organizes events, educational programs, and celebrations, including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, to foster a sense of community and cultural pride.
