Over the past several weeks, SRP Federal Credit Union employees have rolled up their sleeves and given back to the community through blood drives and back-to-school events.
SRP Federal Credit Union, in partnership with Shepeard Community Blood Center, hosted a blood drive at its administrative campus on July 23, resulting in donations that can save up to 42 local patients’ lives, according to a news release.
“SRP has proudly linked arms with Shepeard Community Blood Center to help meet the needs of local patients through our quarterly blood drives,” said Grace Helms, Assistant Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Community Development of SRP Federal Credit Union. “Uplifting our community is at the heart of what we do, and we are grateful for this opportunity to help save lives in our area.”
Employees also joined the United Way of the CSRA’s 2025 Stuff the Bus drive, donating school supplies and volunteer hours to ensure local K-12 students have supplies they need at the start of the school year.
“SRP’s company-wide initiative included collection boxes in branches and at its administrative campus, as well as volunteering to organize and pack school supplies at the Salvation Army Kroc Center of Augusta,” according to a separate news release.
The United Way of the CSRA’s Stuff the Bus collection drive distributes school supplies to students in Richmond, Columbia and Burke counties. SRP joined with several local companies and organizations to support the effort.
The credit union adheres to a philosophy of “People Helping People” and its employee are committed to promoting education in the area, the release said.

Yvonne Meeks, who serves on the Executive Committee of United Way of the CSRA’s Board of Directors, was among SRP team members who volunteered to sort, label and pack school supplies.
“Many families in our communities have to make the tough decision of: ‘Do we buy groceries this week or school supplies?’” said Meeks. “These donations ease that financial burden for at least 900 families in the three-county area.”
Stuff the Bus wasn’t the only project employees have worked with to support schoolchildren.
“SRP Federal Credit Union has distributed thousands of school supplies and provide valuable financial information to help local students prepare for a bright future,” a third news release said. ”SRP team members have contributed nearly 100 volunteer hours at back-to-school events in communities across SRP’s 10-county service area in Georgia and South Carolina, engaging with students, families, and educators at over 25 schools and organizations.”
Besides giving out school supplies, team members focused on financial literacy, promoting the credit union’s youth checking and savings accounts. Students and families also received information about SRP Affinity Debit Cards, which allow members to help fund local schools with every purchase.
Horse Creek Academy was one beneficiary during the 2024-2025 school year. In April, the school received a check for $15,196.50.
SRP Federal Credit Union has donated more than $2 million to 45 high schools and the Augusta Technical College Foundation since the program began in 2018, the news release said.
