ARC girls soccer coach posts 200th career win

The Academy of Richmond County’s girls’ soccer team beat two-time state champion Aquinas 7-1 on Aquinas’s home field on April 15.

It marked Coach Kevin Scheyer’s 200th career win with the squad that has a 14-2 overall record and 13-2 Region 4-AAA this season. The Lady Musketeers are in second place in the region behind undefeated Harlem.

Scheyer has been at Richmond Academy since 2003. In addition to coaching girls’ soccer, he teaches English, coaches girls’ and boys’ cross country and serves as the school’s athletic director.

“All the glory goes to these current players and all the former soccer players I have had the honor to share the team with,” Scheyer said.

Richmond played its last regular season game at home on April 17 against Westside, winning the match 14-0.
