Salvation Army seeks angel adopters by Dec. 13

Help a child in need through the Salvation Army of Augusta’s Angel Tree program.

“Dozens of ‘Forgotten Angels’ remain unadopted in this year’s Angel Tree Program, and your help is needed,” according to a new release from the Salvation Army.

The Angel Tree Program provides Christmas gifts to children from families in need, ensuring they experience the magic of the holidays. Each Angel represents a child in the community who has shared their Christmas wish list, including clothing sizes and toy preferences. While many Christmas angels have already been adopted, there are still numerous children hoping for a brighter holiday season.

Angels can be adopted at the following locations – River Watch Family Store, 4099 River Watch Pkwy. Martinez; North Augusta Family Store, 1751 Knox Ave. North Augusta; The Salvation Army Kroc Center of Augusta, 1833 Broad St.; and Augusta Mall, 3450 Wrightsboro Rd.

Gifts for adopted angels are due by Friday, Dec. 13 at The Salvation Army Kroc Center of Augusta.

“Every child deserves to feel special and loved during the holidays,” said Maj. Amanda Raymer of The Salvation Army of Augusta. “We are deeply grateful to those who have already adopted angels, but we still have many older children waiting for someone to make their Christmas wishes come true. Your generosity can bring hope and joy to a child in need.”

In addition to adopting angels, the community can help by donating toys and essential items, particularly for older children, who make up most of the “Forgotten Angels.” Other possibilities include toiletry gift sets (perfumes, lotions, colognes) and coats and winter clothing in large children’s sizes, junior sizes and men’s sizes.

For those unable to adopt an angel, these donations are invaluable in helping us fulfill the wishes of older children who often go overlooked, the release said.
