The Salvation Army of Augusta has kicked off its annual Red Kettle Campaign, its largest fundraiser of the year. Each gift dropped into a kettle—no matter how small—helps make a life-changing impact for neighbors in need across the Augusta area.
“Every dollar raised at a local Red Kettle stays local,” according to a news release from the Salvation Army.
Last year support from Red Kettle donors helped The Salvation Army of Augusta provide more than $200,000 in rental and utility assistance and 200 meals daily at the Center of Hope Soup Kitchen. Over the past three years, more than 400 people have been placed in stable housing through casework at the Center of Hope.

“The red kettles make all of this possible,” said Maj. Jonathan Raymer, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Augusta. “Each time someone drops even a few dollars into a kettle, they’re helping us feed a neighbor, keep a family in their home, or provide hope to someone who’s struggling. Just five dollars helps us serve two hot meals in our Center of Hope soup kitchen.”
You can find red kettles and bell ringers outside stores such as Bass Pro Shops, Belk, Hobby Lobby, Food Lion. Sam’s Club and Walmart. Kettles will be at Kroger by the end of November. Kettles will be out through Christmas Eve.
People can help by giving at a kettle, donating online or volunteering to ring a bell. Go to salvationarmyaugusta.org for more information.
