Photojournalism: Wreaths Across America

NORTH AUGUSTA – Members of the Martintown Road chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution marked Wreaths Across America Day at the Hammond Cemetery Dec 17.

The cemetery at the historic Charles Hammond House is the final resting place for veterans dating back to the Revolutionary War. Among those buried there are Samuel Hammond who fought in the battles at Cowpens, the Siege of Augusta and Guilford Courthouse. He later served in the United States Congress.

Wreaths Across America observances were held at more than 3,400 locations on land and at sea on Saturday to “remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve and teach your children the value of freedom,” according to the Wreaths Across America website.
