Photojournalism: First Day Hike

WINDSOR, S.C. – About 100 people hiked at the Aiken State Park in Windsor Jan. 1, 2023.

The First Day Hike is a New Year’s Day tradition at state parks across the country. Parks in Georgia and South Carolina took part in the event.

“These hikes provide a means for individuals and families to welcome the coming year in the outdoors, exercising and connecting with nature,” according to the South Carolina State Park website.

Some states offer traditional hikes while others have self-guided hikes and trail challenges.
