Despite a slow start, the Augusta University Jaguars topped Lander University 86-72 March 5 at Christenberry Fieldhouse to claim their second straight Peach Belt Conference Tournament title.
Lander took an early 22-6 lead over the Jags, but the Jaguars quickly made up for any lost ground, narrowly leading at the half 38-36.
Tyshaun Crawford, the tournament MVP, led Augusta University with 31 points.
The tournament was the third meeting for the two teams this season. Augusta University won two of the three matches.
Augusta University is 26-5. The Jags are the top seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament, which will be played at Christenberry Fieldhouse beginning March 11.
Other Peach Belt Conference teams heading to the tournament are the University of South Carolina Aiken, Lander University and the University of North Georgia.
