More than 200 people attended the Phi Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Professional Nursing Sorority, Inc.’s 14th Annual Heart Truth Program on Feb. 1
Piedmont Healthcare provided information and health screenings including blood pressure checks, hemoglobin, A1c and the lipid profile.
Dr. Mac Bowman highlighted on Stress and Resolutions as well as drew attention to important testing that could be done to detect diseases early an identify risks.

Other speakers included Carolyn Byrd who highlighted menopause and heart disease; Gloria Hamilton highlighted sickness as result of the cumulation of events and choices.
Dr. Cherie Murray, a family dentist, spoke on the relationship between periodontal and cardiovascular disease.
Also Ronesha Myer, a senior at USC Aiken; Ancial Stuart, an Augusta Technical College junior; and Shelby Rogers, an Aiken Technical College junior, each received nursing scholarships.
The event drew in-person guests as well as virtual participants. Partners for this event were Good Shepherd Health Care Ministry; National Alumnae Association of Spelman College – Augusta Chapter; Young Adult Ministry from Bethel AME Church; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; the Augusta Chapter of the Links Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Makerson and Makerson Dental and Perry Publishing and Broadcasting Company.
