NORTH AUGUSTA –  A second half onslaught by North Augusta boosted the Yellow Jackets over the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats Saturday, Oct. 26,  56-28.

For the first half, it was a tight match between North Augusta and region foe Brookland-Cayce with the Yellow Jackets scoring first on with Mike Doe’s 6-yard run after a 75-yard drive. Throughout the first half, North Augusta would put up points on the scoreboard with Brookland-Cayce following to even things up.

The two teams went into the half tied at 21.

North Augusta opened the second half with a 60-yard scoring drive. With nine minutes to go in the third quarter, Doe put another one in the end zone. It was a short dash set up by Doe’s 29-yard run on the previous play. Once again, Brookland-Cayce would even up the match. But the Bearcats’ touchdown with three minutes left in the third would be the last points they’d score on the day.

As the third quarter wound to the final seconds, the Yellow Jackets scored, and this time they wouldn’t be answered.

The Bearcats scored the most points of any of the Yellow Jacket opponents this season.

Since Oct. 17, North Augusta has won three games outscoring their foes 167-43.

The Yellow Jackets (7-1, 5-0) will host Midland Valley Friday.
