News You Can Use: Road work for the week of April 28, 2025

Roadwork in Columbia County and Aiken could affect your commute.

Here are a few locations to be aware of.

Aa temporary lane closure on Furys Ferry Road between the intersections of Hardy McManus Road and Three J Road will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28-29. Weather permitting.

Due to the Lewiston Road widening project, intermittent, temporary lane closure(s) will be from Columbia Road to Interstate 20’s Diverging Diamond Interchange, for concrete work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 9.

A temporary lane closure on Horizon South Parkway at the intersection of John Deere Parkway and Horizon South Parkway will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 28 to May 2.

A temporary lane closure on Hardy McManus Road at the intersection of Sam Baston Drive started April 23. The closure is scheduled to continue from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through May 2. Weather permitting.

A temporary lane closure on Gateway Boulevard will affect the eastbound lane at 5001 Gateway Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 to May 30. Weather permitting.

“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe,” according to a news release from Columbia County.

In Aiken County, portions of Silver Bluff Road will be temporarily closed beginning May 1. The closure is expected to last a week, according to a news release from the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

Temporary detour signs will be set up.

A map of the closure and detour can be found below. Silver Bluff Road will be open to local traffic only, except at the site of the repairs.
