News You Can Use: Lane closures in Columbia County from July 15-19

Road construction continues in various parts of Columbia County.

Here are a few spots that will see changes to traffic beginning July 15, according to news releases from the county.

A lane closure at 4449 Wrightsboro Road, 200 feet east of Old Wheeler Road will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 15-19.

A lane on Furys Ferry Road between Evans To Locks Road and Anderson Circle closed on July 11 and will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 25. The temporary lane closures is associated with the roadway-widening project for Furys Ferry Road.

Also, Harlem-Grovetown Road at Old Louisville Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 16-19 due to scheduled utility work.

“Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe, “ the release said.

Also, The Pass will remain closed for at least two weeks with the goal to have at least one lane of traffic open for when school starts. However, the closure could take up to four weeks, according to an email from Cassidy Harris, Columbia County’s public relations manager.
