A couple of events are planned over Valentine’s weekend to allow people to find a furry Valentine.

On Feb. 10, the Aiken County Animal Shelter and FOTAS will host the “Find Your Furry Valentine”adoption event. Dog adoptions will be only $14, and there is even going to be a doggie kissing booth.

From noon to 2 p.m., FOTAS volunteers will be serving “Mocktails & Pawderves.”

A few of the adoptable pets include Holly, who at 3 years old and 53 pounds is a staff and volunteer favorite, the news release said.

“She’s not only adorable but has the best personality once you get to know her and spend some time with her. She likes most dogs she meets and does very well in our morning playgroup sessions,” the release said.

Newton is at the shelter because his owner became ill. He’s a Schnauzer mix who likes most dogs and loves human attention. He’s super thin, and missing hair from fleas. Newton is 7 years old and 20 pounds. He walks well on a leash but may need housetraining.

Four-year-old, 50-pound Whitney gets so excited when she gets visitors to her kennel. She loves going on walks and has been fantastic during her Doggie Dates, including a visit to the Wilcox Hotel. She loves to ride in the car and run in the play yard. She would do best as an only pet, the release continued.

In Augusta, Team Stinkykiss Shelter Rescue Project will have a meet and greet with some adoptable pets as well as having pet photos from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at  Hollywood Feed, 630 Crane Creek Rd.  Photographer Cassie Bayer will take the digital photos for a $10 donation to Team Stinkykiss.
