On Sunday, June 16, 2024, the team won the state title in the final game of a three-team Little League championship at the Little League Southeastern region complex in Warner Robins, according to a news release.

Roman Jones, State Tournament Director, congratulated team members on their success after the final strikeout by handing out medals to each of the players and the coach. The team, made up of 7- and 8-year-old boys, defeated teams from other districts from all over Georgia (Harris County, Smyrna) in a three-team round robin tournament.

Prior to this win, the team won the district championship by defeating Athens, Hart and Oglethorpe counties. Winning the state championship was a historic moment for Martinez-Evans Little League. It’s only the second time a team representing Martinez-Evans has ever won the Rookie League State Championship in its more than 50-year history.

“I’ll have to say it is one of those moments where the stars aligned, and it was just an amazing group of dedicated kids and families. All the pieces fell into place,” said Head Coach Kevin Pinson.

The team received medals, pins and championship banners for both the district and state victories.

The Little League baseball season has concluded but again looking forward to another championship run next year, said Pinson.
