Local music students join Dallas Brass March 25 at USC Aiken

The Dallas Brass will head to the University of South Carolina Aiken’s Etherredge Center stage March 25 with some special guest performers.

The group “has a strong dedication to working with young musicians and will present a workshop for USCA and local high school students. These students will join the Dallas Brass on stage to perform three songs at the end of the concert,” according to news release from the Etherredge Center.

Founded in 1983, the Dallas Brass provides a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full
complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range
and musical challenges. In addition to their solo engagements, the Dallas Brass appears with
symphony orchestras nationwide, the release continued.

The group will be featured as part of the university’s cultural series.

The Dallas Brass has performed at major venues worldwide and for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush. The group’s music has been used numerous times on the television show, “The Young & The Restless.”

The March 25 concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will highlight the “American Musical Journey.”

“From the time of George Washington to the present day, music will be selected from the masters,
including musical styles from Dixieland, Swing, Broadway, Folk, Patriotic and Pop. There is
definitely ‘something for everybody.’ This performance will feature the talent of Brian Neal and
Luis Cardenas Casillas on trumpet, John Wasson on trombone, Craig Hill on percussion, Juan
Berrios on horns, and Paul Carlson on tuba,” the news release said.

Tickets for the Dallas Brass are $45 for adults, $40 for seniors, military, and USCA staff, and $5
for students. Tickets are available at the Etherredge Center box office, by calling
(803) 641-3305, or at etherredgecenter.universitytickets.com.
