Josey girls win 10th straight, edging Thomson 47-44 Jan. 16

Josey’s girls’ basketball team defeated Thomson 47-44 on Friday, Jan. 16 at home.

Josey led throughout the game, but Thomson battled back in the fourth quarter. Senior Josey guard Kerri Fluellen converted the free throw to push the Eagles ahead by three. Thomson missed the open game tying 3-pointer and Josey would walk away victorious.

Thomson was on a 14-game winning streak and 15-1 before heading into Friday’s matchup. The Bulldogs only loss before Friday’s game was to Warner Robins, 65-59 in overtime.

Josey now moves to 13-3, currently on a 10-game winning streak.

Last season, Josey and Thomson faced off four times in which the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs in three of four of the meetings. Josey defeated Thomson 48-43 last season in the quarterfinals of the AA State Playoffs, making a run all the way to the semifinals.

Next up the Eagles will play at home versus Glenn Hills on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Thomson will host Butler the same day with both games beginning at 6 p.m.  

These teams will matchup up again at Thomson High School on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
