Senior Zamiyah Jenkins scored 26 points to lead T.W. Josey past Sonoraville 64-41 in the second round of the Georgia High School girls AA state playoffs on Friday, Feb. 27.
“Kerri (Fluellen) is the motor, but (Zamiyah) is the engine to our car,” said Josey Coach Nichelle Chapman. “We knew coming in she would have to dominate the glass, and they would have nobody to stop her.”
Jenkins also finished with double digit rebounds, recording her 22nd double-double of the season.

The Eagles began Friday’s game on a 15-3 run, but Sonoraville continued to fire up 3-pointers as they cut the lead to only five points.

Josey adjusted throughout the game as they were able to close out on 3-pointers and force misses.
After a tight third quarter, Josey outscore Sonaraville 14-3 in fourth quarter, advancing the Eagles to the quarterfinals.

“That is a great program, and we knew we had to be on our p’s and q’s coming out here tonight,” Chapman said.
Josey will now advance to play the winner of Hart County and Westside (Macon). The game will be at Josey at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.
“Two more great programs… We are just going to go back and do some film study and treatment and be ready to go Monday morning,” Chapman said.
