JAMP to bring musical energy to July 11 JAMPCERT

Fresh off their recent appearance at the historic Apollo Theatre, students from the James Brown Academy of Musik Pupils will bring their musical soul and energy to the 14th annual JAMPCERT at the Augusta Museum of History July 11.

The free concert will begin at 6 p.m. and will highlight various styles of music spanning multiple decades, according to JAMP’s Facebook page.

Sixty-three years after James Brown recorded his first “Live at the Apollo” album, members of JAMP carried his legacy back to that revered stage as part of the May 14 Amateur Night at the Apollo.

Also at the event, the first recipients of the “Don’t Be A Dropout Scholarship” will be honored.

Kennedie Greer, Kaylee Rolack, Camara Christian, Mattison Bowdre and Elijah Emetu each received the  $1,000 scholarship.
