Jags take win over Pacers on April 12

AIKEN – Augusta University handed Peach Belt Conference foe, the University of South Carolina Aiken, a 6-1 loss April 12 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

Augusta University’s Mike Morrison’s first inning double sent Nolan Turner across the plate for the first run of the game.

After the Pacers’ Brody Yeomans singled, Jack Hobson was hit by a pitch. An error put Kaden Usry on to load the bases, and Taylor Casiacto hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score.

Augusta went ahead in the seventh on Ty McClintock’s bases-loaded single with Turner and Morrison delivering a pair of sac flies, putting the Jags up 4-1.

The Jaguars added two more runs in the ninth with an RBI single from Turner and another sac fly from Morrison.

Luke Barch pitched 6.1 innings to record the win while Griffin Stewart picked up the save.

The Pacers are now 17-24 on the season, including 7-13 in PBC play. Augusta is now 6-14 in the Peach Belt Conference and 10-31 overall. 

The two teams play the final game of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
