Augusta’s Irish American Heritage Society has been named a finalist in Community Engagement, Education, Art & Culture for the Fifth Annual Anthem Awards Community Voice Award.
“This recognition means a great deal to us because it honors what ‘community’ truly looks like in action,” said Sean Mooney, IAHS past president, in a news release. “Heritage in Motion represents months of effort from droves of volunteers and partners. We believe shared heritage should be an open invitation – not a barrier – and we’re proud that Augusta’s Irish community is being recognized alongside global changemakers.”
The Augusta group’s Heritage in Motion initiative includes Augusta’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Grand Marshal Ball and months-long series of civic and cultural events that engage schools, churches, civic groups and the broader community to celebrate Irish American contributions to education, arts, and culture within the community and region at large, the release continued.

The Anthem Awards are a global platform recognizing purpose-driven work celebrating social impact, cultural preservation and civic engagement. Anthem winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
Judges for the 5th Annual Anthem Awards include leaders from organizations and businesses such as the American Heart Association, Land O’Lakes, Inc., PepsiCo, IKEA, World Central Kitchen and GLAAD.

IAHS is also eligible for the Anthem Community Voice Award, the public vote that celebrates the work of Anthem Finalists. Supporters can cast their votes from Oct. 14-30 at celebrate.anthemawards.com.
All Finalists are also in the running to win gold, silver or bronze honors selected by Anthem judges. Winners for the 5th Annual Anthem Awards will be announced on Nov. 18, 2025.
