In pictures: USC Aiken wins Battle of the Paddle March 26

NORTH AUGUSTA – University of South Carolina Aiken’s Charles Herring Jr. struck out the side in the ninth and picked up the save as the Pacers edged the Augusta University Jaguars 8-7 in the Battle for the Paddle Wednesday at SRP Park.

The Jags took a first inning lead scoring three runs. In the bottom half of the first, the Pacers put one runner across the plate.

Augusta expanded its lead to 5-1 with a two-run homer by Parker Ingram in the third.

But the Pacers came back in the bottom of the inning with a two-run single by Hunter Thompson. The Pacers took a 7-5 lead in the fifth by adding another four runs.

The Pacers are now 15-16 on the season and the Jags fall to 8-23.
