The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History marked its 35th anniversary June 5-6 with two days of educational and fun events.
The weekend opened Friday with an evening focusing on the museum’s history and how it came together under the leadership of members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority who saved the home after the death of Lucy Craft Laney’s niece, who lived in the home after Miss Laney died.
Saturday featured fun and games on Phillips Street in between the museum and Lucy Craft Laney Comprehensive High School with competitive games such as musical chairs and parachute ball.
Several authors sold books in the authors’ garden and other vendors took spots in the parking lot. The Sounds of Brilliance also played on the museum’s porch.
