NORTH AUGUSTA – The annual trek back in time to the 1700s at North Augusta’s Living History Park returned Oct. 18-19 without its founder at the helm.

Lynn Thompson, who spearheaded the transformation of the park from an unsightly dumping ground in the 1990s to a place where people could learn history firsthand by seeing reenactors engaged in daily activities, died on July 4, the same day the park reopened after Hurricane Helene.

The park still shows some of Helene’s aftereffects but that didn’t deter the crowds who came out to immerse themselves in the Revolutionary War-era encampment.
