In pictures: Augusta hoops teams take a pair from Flagler Jan. 15

The Augusta men’s basketball team took commanding 102-71 victory over Flagler College on Wednesday evening at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The game featured the annual “Stuff the Stadium – Teddy Bear Toss,” which resulted in a collection of 2,056 stuffed animals to benefit local charities, according to a news release from Augusta University.

Demitri Gardner once again led the charge, posting a game-high 28 points on 12-17 shooting while adding five rebounds and three assists. Max Amadasun was a force in the paint, tallying 18 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. John St. Germain III delivered a perfect shooting night, going 7-7 from the field and contributing 16 points, seven assists, and two steals.

The win moves Augusta to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in Peach Belt Conference play, while Flagler falls to 8-6 and 2-3 in conference action.

In the women’s game, Quinasia Abercrombie’s last second shot gave Augusta a 70-68 win over Flagler at Christenberry Fieldhouse. With the win, the Jaguars are now 4-1 in Peach Belt Conference play and 12-3 overall. The Saints fall to 2-3 in conference and 6-8 overall.
