AIKEN – Shoppers gathered early Saturday at the Aiken County Farmers Market to get the best selection of fresh produce as well as items such as flowers, baked goods and items such as handcrafted soaps and candles.
Located at 115 Williamsburg St., the market has a rich history with the distinction of being “the oldest county farmers’ market in continuous service in the same location in South Carolina.” More details including how the market was almost demolished are available at the Visit Aiken website here.
An anniversary celebration is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 28. The market will open at 7:30 a.m. There will be cake, prizes and other surprises, according to a flyer.
Augusta Good News’ photographer Mike Adams has won multiple Georgia Press Association Awards including eight in 2024.

I quit coming to the farmers market because you can never find a place to park, and very few farmers, more like a flea market now. I thought that’s what aikens making was for not the market. A Farmers market should be for farmers, not selling rocks.
