Hundreds of runners took part in the annual Augusta Half Marathon Saturday, which started and ended next to Augusta University’s Maxwell Theatre.

The half marathon route threaded through Summerville streets before twisting around Lake Olmstead, coursing downtown and heading back up to the university, which marked its homecoming this week.

With a Mardi Gras theme, several participants wore purple, gold and green – the colors of Fat Tuesday – as well as bead and other Mardi Gras-related items.

On the university grounds, multiple vendors including the Augusta GreenJackets, Doctors Hospital, Stretch Lab, Friends of Frances and Wier/Stewart had tents.
