HARLEM – Harlem High School girls’ soccer team and boys’ baseball team extended their winning streaks with round one playoff wins on Thursday and Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated North Clayton 10-0 on Thursday, April 24. Junior Kamryn Simmons and sophomore Maggie Crozier led the Bulldogs with three goals each.

They now have extended their winning streak to 16 games with a 17-1 overall record and 16-0 record in the region. Their only loss was to Greenbrier to start the season on Feb. 11.

Harlem baseball moved 31-0 after defeating Mount Zion in both games of the playoff doubleheader on Friday, April 25.

The Bulldogs won both games easily, winning game one 15-0 after four innings and game two 13-0 through five.

“We played our baseball and did what it took, but we got to get ready next week because next week is a super powerhouse Whitewater coming in,” said Harlem Baseball Coach Jimmie Lewis.

While Harlem baseball is looking for their third straight title and possibly undefeated, Lewis said his first order of business is defeating Whitewater.

“I want to beat Whitewater. Right now, I have no focus on nothing but winning two games versus Whitewater,” Lewis said. “A lot of 4A teams came down when they did away with 7A. We got something to prove, and we got to prove we’re just as good as the 4A teams that came down too.”

Harlem baseball will play Whitewater in a best of three series beginning on Thursday, May 1. The times of the games are to be announced.

The Lady Dogs soccer team will play Oconee County in the second round also Thursday.
