Goodwill partnerships support families impacted by hurricane

Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA is providing ongoing support for families affected by Hurricane Helene through its Good Samaritan and Daily Bread initiatives.

Fueled by a $10,000 sponsorship from SD Clifton Construction, the Good Samaritan Gift Card Program allows families impacted by the hurricane to shop for necessary clothing and household items at Goodwill locations, according to a news release from Goodwill.

“We aim to give families the autonomy to choose the items that best suit their needs, restoring a sense of normalcy and self-respect in difficult times,” said Goodwill President James K. Stiff in the news release.  “This would not be possible without the commitment of SD Clifton Construction and our community partners.”

Other sponsors include Regions Bank, Peach State Federal Credit Union and Beam’s Contracting, Inc.

These initiatives help individuals and families regain stability with dignity by offering resources for essential goods and meals, the news release said.

“As we all work to recover from the impact of Hurricane Helene, we know that many families are struggling to pick up the pieces. Clifton Construction is proud to be part of this community and committed to supporting our neighbors as we rebuild, stronger together,” said Rob Clifton, CEO of SD Clifton Construction.

Goodwill, alongside community organizations like CareSource, Druid Park Clinic, Habitat for Humanity, and local veteran services, will continue distributing resources as families face ongoing recovery challenges, the release continued.

“Our mission is to swiftly provide essential resources to those who need them most. These gift cards go beyond material help—they restore dignity. Recently, we assisted a family at the Ronald McDonald House who traveled here for their child’s medical care. After a storm, they lacked necessities like clothing. Thanks to these gift cards, they found stability and comfort when needed most,” said Jennifer Tyner, Vice President for Marketing and Development at Goodwill.

The community can assist in these initiatives by rounding up their purchases through the end of November with the additional proceeds going directly to hurricane relief efforts.
